East Durham RAYNET

General Information
East Durham RAYNET is the local group of British RAYNET which is the UK member of the international community of radio amateurs dedicated to providing emergency communications when the normal systems fail or are overloaded. Communications can range from a few hundred yards to intercontinental, as required.

If needed, RAYNET must be called-out by a statutory emergency service of the County Emergency Planning Office, this is a UK legal requirement. RAYNET often provides communications at public events to exercise their skills, organisers should contact RAYNET at the address below.

Meetings and Events
The group, and Peterlee Radio Club, meets at 7.30pm every Wednesday at the St John's Ambulance Headquarters, North East Industrial Estate, Peterlee. All who are interested in radio communications are welcome.

Costs and Charges
RAYNET does not charge for this service but donations are welcomed.

Host and run a specifically built ICU (Incident Control Unit/Command Unit) which is self-sufficient.
