Effective Policing Delivery Committee

Terms of Reference

To develop and progress the Authority’s response to securing an effective policing service under Section 6 of the Police Act 1996 and towards securing best value by means of continuous improvement under Section 3 of the Local Government Act 1999 by means of:

To hold the Force to account for performance and delivery of policing services including local priorities and targets.

Oversight of force compliance with national reports other than those falling within the purview of the Human Resources Sub-Committee.

Scrutinising such areas of police performance (either thematic or specific) as the Committee may determine.

Oversight of Protective Services issues.

Oversight of complaints and misconduct matters in relation to the duty under Section 15 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

Oversight of Professional Standards matters.

Oversight of data quality monitoring including:

  • Being satisfied that Force’s audit & inspection procedures are robust
  • Ensuring that the Force is on track to meet Management of Police Information (MOPI) compliance by 2010
  • Monitoring the compliance of Force information & data with national standards including:
  •    National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS)
  •    National Standards for Incident Recording (NSIR)

To appoint Task and Finish Groups as and when required to undertake specific projects.
