Freedom of Information

About Freedom of Information

'Freedom of Information' is Durham Police Authority's commitment to its customers to provide greater access to information. As a customer you have a right of access to information that we hold and we are keen to help you to do this.

Requests for personal data to which the applicant is the subject automatically become subject access requests under the Data Protection Act.

As a public authority, Durham Police Authority will, of course, comply with the obligations placed upon it by the Act.

Our Publication Scheme

Under the Freedom Of Information Act all public authorities, including Durham Police Authority, must have a Publication Scheme setting out the information we routinely make publicly available. The Information Commissioner’s Office has recently refreshed its approach to proactive disclosure of information and the revised Publication Scheme provided by Durham Police Authority can be accessed through the following link:

Freedom of Information Publication Scheme

The purpose of Durham Police Authority's Publication Scheme is to let you know what information is readily available without the need for you to ask us for it.

Police and Crime Commissioner Information Requests

To promote transparency and fairness regarding requests for information during the transition process from Police Authority to the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Durham Police Authority have provided a PCC Information Request Log; this ensures that all interested persons have access to the same information previously requested by others.

Requests for PCC related information will be dealt with in the same format as standard Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. For more details about PCCs, please visit our Police and Crime Commissioner page for further information.
