Profile

Mr Humphries was born on 2 May 1946 and was educated at Durham Johnston Grammar School. He has an Honours Degree in Law, from the University of Sheffield and was a Solicitor in local government from 1970 until retirement in 2000.

He was a Borough Solicitor for Darlington Borough Council from 1980 to 1983 and was a former County Secretary and Solicitor and Deputy Chief Executive at Durham County Council from 1987 to 2000.

He has been an independent member of Durham Police Authority since 2003 and a Member of Governing Council, Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust since June 2008. He has also been a Member of Staindrop Parish Council since 1987.
