Profile
Mrs Davies has been an independent member of Durham Police Authority since 1 April 2003 and was elected Vice Chair of the Authority in May 2007 until June 2010. She has lead responsibility for the LGBT and gender portfolio and is a lead member in the force’s work to combat domestic violence.
Mrs Davies is a former teacher in both mainstream and special schools and was employed as an Early Years Liaison Teacher for children with special educational needs until she retired in 2002. She is also a founder member of Derwentside Victim Support and a former School Governor.
As a Friend of Beamish Open Air Museum, Mrs Davies works as a volunteer at the Museum often assisting with the Museum’s Education work with Secondary Schools to promote understanding of Women’s Suffrage and the Votes for Women movement.
