Our Committees
The Police Authority Members share a wide range of responsibilities, including setting the annual budget, agreeing policing priorities and monitoring the performance of Durham Constabulary. Work of the Police Authority is usually agreed at committee meetings and panels.

About the Committees
In the spirit of continuous improvement, the Authority has recently reviewed the way it works and agreed to a revised committee structure to help facilitate the efficient and effective discharge of its responsibilities.
The Committee Structure Chart is available to download.
A further Committees and Members Spreadsheet detailing which Member is involved in for each of the Authority's main strand committees and sub-committees is also available.
Lead Members are often appointed by the Authority to help assist and streamline the work of the committees and task & finish groups, for example by developing a close working relationship with Constabulary officers and Police Authority officers.
They can resolve any contentious issues, advise and update other members on key local and national developments and endorse recommendations made to the Authority.
Other Police Authority business usually addressed by previous Sub-Committees or Panels will be merged back into the main Committees on an ad-hoc basis. The Terms of Reference for each of the Committees and Sub-Committees can be found within the links below:
