Standards Committee

Terms of Reference

To advise the Authority on the adoption or revision of a local Code of Conduct.

To assist Members to observe the Authority’s Code of Conduct.

To monitor the operation of the Authority’s Code and make recommendations about changes to keep the Code up to date.

To promote high ethical standards.

To provide guidance and arrange for training of Members of the Authority on matters relating to its Code of Conduct.

To undertake the local assessment, investigation and determination of complaints relating to the code of conduct.

To consider referrals of misconduct by independent custody visitors under paragraph 4.11 and 4.12 of the Police Authority Independent Custody Visiting Scheme.

Responsibility for the development and review of a Confidential Reporting Code.
