Mortley bastle (Wark)

The present farmhouse at Mortley is of 19th century date, but forms part of a range of farm buildings. The easternmost part of this range is a ruined bastle, a fortified farmhouse of late 16th or early 17th century date. It has thick stone walls. The inside of the ruin is largely infilled with rubble. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
