Peter Thompson - Chair of Durham Police Authority
Durham Police Authority is committed to listening to the needs of all residents, regardless of background or circumstances, and taking positive action wherever possible. Please read the information on the site and provide us with your feedback to enable us to improve our efforts to provide a better and improved police service to all residents of County Durham and Darlington. Durham Police Authority is an important link between local communities and the police service in County Durham and Darlington. The Authority members work closely with the Chief Constable of Durham Constabulary, who has overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Force, to ensure that an efficient and effective policing service is provided that responds to local needs. As the budget holder, the Authority also checks that the Constabulary has enough money to carry out its work. From this page, you can see our latest news, and access details of the Authority's duties and responsibilities, information about the people who serve on the Authority, details of forthcoming meetings and publications, some of which have been jointly produced with the Constabulary. The Authority consults communities across County Durham and Darlington to find out people's views about policing and takes these into account when setting its budget and objectives. We are keen to receive your feedback on how the police service is run in this area. Your views are vitally important to us and can definitely influence some of the decisions we make, so please let us have your comments. If you want to meet your Police Authority member, come along to one of our public meetings, which are held across County Durham and Darlington throughout the year. Your feedback and input will help to shape policing services in your area. We hope you find this a useful way of finding out more about what we do and of communicating with us. If you have any suggestions on improving the site, please let us know. | |||
