Involving Our Communities

Police Community Consultative Groups

We believe that working in partnership with the public and other agencies leads to a community based policing service working with and for the community, rather than the policing of our communities. We place great emphasis on consultation and the exchange of information with the public, and ongoing dialogue has always formed part of our priorities. The aim is that through greater community participation, we will enhance public reassurance and feelings of safety, as well as improving trust and confidence in the police service.

The Police Authority obtains the views of the public about local policing through holding stakeholder events and public meetings, known as Police Community Consultative Groups (PCCGs). PCCGs are held regularly across County Durham and Darlington and all members of the public are welcome to attend.

We want to know what you think about policing in your area and invite you to work with us in preventing and reducing crime. Come and meet Police Authority members and local senior police officers at a PCCG near you. You can receive crime information about your area and ask questions about any police matter of concern or interest. These meetings are an opportunity for any member of the public to generate discussion about policing matters and to participate in developing solutions in partnership with the police.
